Kassandra Mayes (PGCE, Ba Hons)
Dance practitioner Kassandra, has trained to a professional level at Newcastle Performing Arts Academy; training in a versatile range of styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Hip-Hop and Commercial Dance. Kassandra has worked in the performance industry from a young age, performing with Showcase Productions, NYCDC, London Big Dance and Edinburgh Fringe festival.
Kassandra has now merged into the teaching industry, gaining QTS status and working as a Teacher of Dance at Rushey Mead Academy. In addition to this, Kassandra has established her own freelance dance business which provides dance sessions for Primary schools and colleges in and around Leicester.
Kassandra is driven to providing opportunities for young people to engage in dance and gymnastics and be part of competitions and live performances. As a newly appointed director of Mayes Academy, she endeavours to encourage young people to get physically active and be engaged in Dance and Gymnastics.
Ivan Bulyha (British Gymnastics Club Coach)
Ex-British gymnast, Ivan Bulyha, has worked and trained in the gymnastics industry for over twenty years; representing Great Britain as a competitive Gymnast, coaching for Hinckley Gymnastics Club, working as Development Officer for Leicester City Council and developing his own Multi-Sports business ‘Above and Beyond Coaching’. Ivan has competed across Europe and America, and in 2008 he was awarded Personality of the Year Award in his former hometown, as well as the Leicestershire and Rutland Sport Coach Award.
After competing in the British Championships and achieving Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, Ivan decided to make the transition into full time coaching. As a result of this decision, he has had the opportunity to teach gymnastics to a variety of young people, from children training within competitive squads, secondary and primary school students and children with special needs.
As a lead coach at Mayes Academy, Ivan is eager to transfer his expertise on to the younger generation, creating opportunity for high quality dance and gymnastics training, with an emphasis on the enjoyment aspect of these two disciplines.
